Nabi - problem with pixmap Debian 8
Hello,
Just installed Debian Jessie. I am having problems getting my Korean input to work. After installing nabi I got the following message; (nabi:1736): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap" I was advised to install the gtk2-engines-oixbuf. After installing this I now don't ge the above message, but I still don't get the Korean input or even the icon tray that goes withnabi. |
the message posted is just a harmless Warning and totally unrelated to your problem.
i have no experience with nabi, but standard first question would be: how are you starting it? when you try to start it from a terminal, do you get any interesting output? |
Hi
I am using a little shell script I wrote back in 2003! It's worked perfectly on every Debian system since then. OK here it actually starts abiword and not gedit. Haven't used vim for years.... james@jessie:~$ cat Shells/shabi # A shell script to start Nabi and a gedit screen. The next line is the shell script line. #!/bin/sh export LC_CTYPE=ko_KR.UTF-8 nabi & export XMODIFIERS="@im=nabi" #gedit #gvim abiword Thanks for your interest. James |
i'm not sure if you misunderstood my last post, but i think i don't understand your answer. is your problem solved now?

Sorry
that wasn't a helpful reply at all, don't know what I was thinking... I ran the command given in the article and that cleared the messages which seems good. Unfortunately still no sign of Nabi at all. So I have un-installed nabi and re-installed it but with no change. Not sure if it's relevant, but when I installed the system I had originally set the locale at ko_KR.utf8 and got all the automatically installed Home/directories (videos, music, downloads) labeled in Hangeul. I have since reset the default locale to en_US.utf8 but the interesting thing is that the labels are still in Hangeul! Cheers James |

No, I get no information at all now, but the program appears to be running in that the terminal acts as if it is running, I can input roman characters... The nabi tray doesn't show and I can't get Hangeul characters with shift/space, the default shift keys to change from roman to hangeul and back. I have to control C to get the terminal command back.
