mysql won't start... dynamic link error

i'm trying to start mysql as root and i get the following message:

mysqld_safe
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql

the .err file shows:

031113 09:07:42 mysqld started
mysqld: dynamic-link.h:57: elf_get_dynamic_info: Assertion `! "bad dynamic tag"' failed.
031113 09:07:42 mysqld ended

i'm running it on fedora core 1, with MySQL-4.0.0-1, glibc-2.3.2-101. any ideas about how to fix this?

fixed it... installed mysql-server and started mysqld
