I'm running 3.23.58 on a Fedora Core 2 box and it keeps stopping randomly. I also know of 2 other servers this is happening on, though I'm not sure what version they are running.
This is a real pain since my e-mail and helpdesk software rely on mysql databases.
There is no apparent reason for the system to stop.
This is the only message in my mysqld.log
Number of processes running now: 0
050227 10:56:18 mysqld restarted
050227 11:04:02 mysqld ended
along with several other notifications that it has restarted, but this is the only one saying that it ended. My server has stopped at least 2 times on me in the past 2 days.
I had a similar problem but with MySQL and Apache. Unfortunately, I never figured it out. However, when I switched to Fedora Core 3, the problem went away. I know it doesn't help much, but FC3 is much more stable than FC2 anyway.
I've been running FC2 since June without a problem. I don't think it's a problem with FC2 since I know of at least one other server that's having the same problem, and I'm pretty sure it's running Debian.
