mysql memory management


hi guys,

Is there a way in mysql that i can increase the memory if ever there would be a greater input of data from the clients?

Please help me on this. Thanks in advance

Memory settings can be set in the my.cnf file usually in /etc. Not sure if there are any CLI arguments to pass to make changes but changes to my.cnf require a restart to they are read.

But what would be my entry inside the file my.cnf?

memory=512M?
