anybody here to help me, i am in great trouble for 3 days. i have installed mysql-3.23 from the redhat 9.0 cd in my
redhat 9.0 pc.everything installed ok.but when i give the command
>>mysqladmin -u root password somepassword
it shows the error message like this:

error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (111)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!

the pc has apache and php already installed.I have also added the user and group the mysql.

i would be grateful if anybody can help me..I badly need it!!!! thanks in advance.......
