By default, it resides in /var/lib/mysql

Either move this directory to a new drive and mount it properly or move the contents to a new directory on a new drive and reconfigure mysql to look there for it's databases.

Look into using software or hardware RAID and/or LVM to span the partition the MySQL files live on over two or more physical partitions or hard drives. These tools are come with most Linux distributions.
