I have just install RH9 and i included Mysql in that install.
I log on as root and run mysql and i get :
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I have done almost everything i can find about this and i cannot figure it out.
i cant find the mysql.sock file
I checked the version of mysql and i get :
[root@localhost /]# mysql --version
mysql Ver 11.18 Distrib 3.23.58, for redhat-linux-gnu (i386)
How can i tell if it is running? i tried service mysqld status and that gave me a error
mysqld: unrecognized service , i dont know if this is thr right command
I run a mysqladmin and get the same error 2002.
Any ideas?
