MYSQL DROP TABLE not working after restoring from backup.

Hi .
Using Mandrake 9.2 and MYSQL 4.0.15 . Still a newbie here. I restored system
recently from a file backup. I also have a Sql script file that has the most
recent data in it . A PHP app uses the database and works fine still, adds and deletes data OK. I have used the sql script before to restore the database and should be correct..
First line of the script fails , Being DROP TABLE IF EXISTS 'tablename';
I have tried logging in as root into MYSQL and executing the DROP TABLE by hand on the same database. I get ERROR 6 : Error on delete of './databasename/tablename.MYI' (Errcode: 13). I have changed to the MYSQL database and checked the user table and
the root user is Y for DROP table priviledges . Database files have group mysql and owner mysql 660 privileges. Any Suggestions on how I can get DROP to work again
please ?

PS . Found it the directory permissions for the database were wrong !
