MySql configuration deleted

I was trying to delete mysql server and client and accidentally I deleted the configuration folder /etc/mysql. Is there a way to recover this folder??? I thought that only reinstalling it would solve the issue, but it didn't. Help please!!

if you reinstall, everything should come with it. The config might be located elsewhere (/usr/local/etc or something, or /usr/local/mysql/conf ?) It's been awhile since I installed mysql, but I remember it stuffing the config somewhere else. For removal, you should use your distro's tools if it was a package, and ideally, you should use your distro's package for the update or reinstallation.

I already did another installation removed the packages from adept (I use kubuntu) I also removed it with "sudo apt-get autoremove --purge mysql-server mysql-server-5.0" and reinstalled it, and the folder wasn't created. When I try to initiate mysql this message appears

markez@Teresa:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/mysql restart
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* /etc/init.d/mysql: WARNING: /etc/mysql/my.cnf cannot be read. See README.Debian.gz
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld

And nothing happens because this file doesn't exists... So I don't know what to do. any idea?? thanks for the help!!
