Hi All,

Can anyone tell me which MYSQL 5 rpm to use for installing on Fedora core 3? The web url below does not mention Fedora specifically.

I'm currently running 3.23 with 7.5.4 plesk.

It seems to me that there are RPMs for RedHat Enterprise Linux (which you don't have), for SuSe (again, not useful for you) and some generic, platform dependent RPMs.

Personnally, I haven't installed it via RPM (the basic installation is fairly easy).

But the generic RPM should work for your system.

If it's a 32-bit platform, use the x86 RPM.
If it's a modern 64-bit machine, use the EM64T/AMD64.
If I'm not mistaken, the IA64 is an old Intel specific 64-bit platform, so it's unlikely you'll have that.
Most modern Intel 64bit machines are probably EM64T.

Whether you choose the statically linked RPM or the dynamical one, is more or less up to you.
A dynamically linked program uses links to your system libraries, rather than putting the library code in the program itself. Hence, a dynamically linked program is smaller, but the libs need to be available on the system.
ie: If you have a more recent glibc than mentioned on the site, you could go for the dynamically linked one for performance. However, the version difference may cause compilation to fail.
