your help is highly appreciated.

What's the output of:

ls -l /var/log/packages/mysql*

If you see both versions installed, just do a removepkg <package-name>

And next time don't install one over or alongside the other.. ;)

Hi Trickykid,

Thanks for your reply.

Here is the output of ls -l /var/log/packages/mysql*

root@cire:~# ls -l /var/log/packages/mysql*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8139 2008-07-16 21:17 /var/log/packages/mysql-5.0.51b-i48

6-1

From the said output, it seems that i have only one Mysql server (5.0.51b)running im my server??

But im 100% sure that i had compiled the mysql 5.0.45. Pls kindly explain to me tricky kid as im newbie in this system. Do i have to leave it like that or nothing to be uninstalled since mysql server is up and running anyway? Pls advice.

thanks for your untiring support.

If you compiled 5.0.45 from source, then you'll need to manually remove. I'm not sure if mysql has an uninstall option when installing from source and that's if you kept the source where you installed from. If you used the same configure options as the tgz slackware package, there's a good chance most of the source files got overwritten with the newer version but I doubt it since what you posted still refers to the 45 version.
