mysql 4.1.7 mysqlhotcopy perl issue

hi all

i installed mysql 4.1.7 from rpm
got the devel, server, client, benchmarks, and shared clients installed
but when i try to install perl-DBD-MySQL-2.1021-3
to get mysqlhotcopy to work it says libmysqlclient.so.10 is needed by perl-DBD-MySQL-2.1021-3
the libmysqlclient.so.xx on our devserver is libmysqlclient.so.14
i made a symbolic link with .10 to point to .14 but i get the same message

does anyone know what i can do?
redhat 9

thanks
dave

You most likely need the MySQL-shared-compat RPM as well which includes older mysql libraries for support of such applications that depend on the older installs, etc.
