My wireless lan security parameters are wrong need help.
I have a Acer laptop which was running Vista and able to connect to the internet wireless with no problems.
I cleared (reformatted) the computer and installed Puppy 431. The computer works fine using an Ethernet connection but I am having a problem setting up a wireless connection to the internet. I went to the router (192.168.1.1) and here how it is set up. On the Wireless Settings/Wireless status screen: RADIO ENABLED SSID 12211 SECURITY ENABLED YES WEP 64 BIT 15F4B5648C SSID BROADCAST ENABLED MAC AUTHENTICATION DISABLED On the Wireless Settings/Basic Security Screen: WIRELESS ON SSID 12211 CHANNEL 11 WEP ON WIRELESS MODE MIXED Accepts 802.11b and 802.11g Connections. So far so good. The puppy network wizard correctlyloated my wireles adapter and Installed the driver. So far so good. There are a few network parameters needed complete the network wizard and I need help with them. Here's how I am set up right now. Encryption = WPA2 Essid = same as above 12211 Mode Ad-hoc and restricted are both checked. Managed and open are not checked. AP scan Broadcast SSID is checked, hidden and driver both not checked. Shared key = same as above 15F4B5648C When I save and use this profile I get a message saying puppy failed to make a WPA2 connection. Can anyone suggest the correct parameters. I have already confirmed that the shared key is correct by using it on a Windows XP wireless computer. |
Your router set 64-bit WEP, you say your wireless card is set to use WPA2. That's the first problem.
