My videos lag in full screen mode

I'm on a 965 intel chipset. I just switched over to Debian Lenny and my previous linux (ubuntu) did not have this problem. I have xserver-xorg-intel/i810 installed. Video only lags when I go into full screen. Compiz is also running. However when I use OpenGL as my video out module it plays just fine in full screen but some stuff from the desktop shows through (things like the reception bar on wicd and graph on system monitor). Any advice on stopping the lag or stopping stuff showing through OpenGL would be helpful.

Thx

Fixed: Had to go into compiz settings and check undirect full screen windows. Works fine now.
