I have installed gnewsense 4 on my system.I installed both gnome 3 and lxde. But,i can't shutdown the system.
Using gdm3 and lightdm, the same result
Using lxde and gnome, same result
If shutdown/restart/logout is carried out, simply the screen goes to blank
Even if command in terminal is used l;ike shutdown -h / shutdown -r ,the screen blanks and system does not shutdown down.I have to hold the power button for some time for shutdown.
I used parabola linux and debian 8 on the same system. But,the above said problems does not exist.
I have no non-free software requiring components.

So, please help me solve this.

A start would be to see what it is hanging on.
Is there any info in your log files?

You say you have shut down from the terminal, was this a graphical terminal?
Try it from tty (Ctrl, Alt, F1) you may need to stop your services first

I think i found the issue the kernel with it is not working well with my motherboard bios.
Log files are fine. The system goes to halt in log file.
So,I switched to another distro with new kernel slackware and it works fine.
thanks for help.
