Question My Mandrake is looking for it's network and wont let me in after login.

To Whoever,
I have my computer home now, so I go to login; no problem; name and password work ok. But, instead of loading my OS I get the following message:
There was some error setting up inter_process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was: Could not read network connection list //.DCOPserver_localhost.localdomain_:o Please check that the "dcopserver" program is running.
I'm not sure why this is happening. If I click the ok button I get sent back to the login pane again. What do I have to do to get to my programs? All that a friend could come up with is reloading the OS. But if I do that I'll loose all of my files. Help!

Log in in text mode. Then cd to the home directory of the username having the problem. Then delete the following: .ICEauthority* and .DCOPServer*

Then reboot. You should be OK.

Hello there

I'm running Slackware 10.1
and I've exactly the same problem, error Could not read network connection list //.DCOPserver_(name_of_the_machine)_0

I've deleted this files .ICEauthority in my /home/(username) but "I couldn't fine the other one .DCOP.....", anyway here what i've done so far:
Code:
cd ~
rm .ICEauthority
Su
reboot
same problem when i try to load startx
so i deside to delete the temp directory
Code:
cd ~
rm .ICEauthority
Su
cd /tmp
rm -rf *
reboot
but still the same problem... while loading startx

For information i've got this problem after a reboot logged as a simple user...
