My ISP blocks port 25-smtp sending prob help

Red Hat 9

Hey guys I was wondering if you all could help me out-it turns out my free ISP blocks outgoing mail via port 25. I can recieve, but not send. Is there any way I can bypass this or can I change the port my mail client uses to send mail? I use Ximian Evolution.

your isp probably blocks access to external mail servers but it wont block access to its own, use your isp's mailserver to forward mail for other domains for you. hence change the smtp server in ximian to your isp's and all should be ok.

you can change which port you send mail on but the problem is no one else will be listening on this other port, they'll all be listening on port 25.

I think I might have had the same problem as you. And I posted the solution I worked out in my other thread for any who might be interested.

The thing is to fix my problem I had to find a friend that would be willing to forward my mail from my mail server for me and I had to configure his server to listen for mail on two ports (port 25 so his server still works normally for him and the port I am sending my mail to him)

Here is my thread

Good luck man. FYI I am a newbie other gurus here might scoff at exactly how I did things and if they can think of a better way, I would be most happy to hear what they think is better.
