Question my computer recognizes the software in the cd/dvd drive, yet i am unable to install


how do i install programs and games?

Which distribution, which software?
You can't install windows software in linux though, unless you use wine.

i am using centos 5.i thouhgt that that may have been the case, but was unsure since it recognizes the software. i will research wine. thank you

WINE is free---it should be in your repositories (install with the package manager)

Look also at CrossOver (not free, but they have a free demo) There is a version just for games. http://codeweavers.com

sounds like it simply is able to see the files. That does not mean the SW is installable or will run on Linux.
