Mutt stopped sending emails without an error

As the title implies, mutt just stopped working as of May 31st. This coincides with a reboot on the system. This system should be emailing out a report daily and monthly and nothing is coming out, and there are no errors anywhere. I'm new to mutt, so I apologize for any nievete.

My question is this: How does mutt send its mail, is there supposed to be a daemon running in the background? Something that may not have come up after the reboot?

When running mutt from the command line, it does pause and then come back to bash, as if it had just sent the email, but nothing comes out and nothing is logged. I did notice, per several webpages, that sendmail is normally referred to inside /etc/Muttrc. I did not find any reference in that file (in fact it is rather bare), but when I added the reference to sendmail, I get an error 127 when attempting to send.

Any ideas on where to look, what to do? I appreciate your time for just reading this, and any suggestions, of course.

And its fixed! For some reason, when the server was rebooted,
Code:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/sendmail start
didn't start correctly. I've fixed that and all is well. Hopefully this helps someone else out there!
