Angry must i format all hard


hi all:
i want to reinstall my redhat linux 9.0 ,but it can not go no when tranfering all image to hard disk.it send me a bug report.

my disk is

hda 1 /boot
hda2 /
hda3 /usr

hdb1 /usr/disk2
hdc 1 /home
hdc2 /usr/disk3

i know if i have a low formatt with hda,it can be reinstall succesfully.
there are some importand data on hda2.

is it enough ????

are you trying to do an expert install ?
if so, select the partitions you want to use, but remove the tick that selects which partitions are going to be formatted
