"must have" software general use

I'm still fairly new to linux but I'm geting things setup the way I wanted I just wondered what everybody thought were the "must have" software. BTW it only matters if it's freely avalible.

I'm using mandrake 10.1
Web Browser- Firefox
Office Suite - OpenOffice
Media Player- xmms
P2P - Limewire
Chat - ? (Kopete nolonger works with MSN)

does anybody have any recomendations for software that they really like or can't live with out.
BTW I want the system for school work, web surfing, chat, games(I'll probably set WINE up), listening to music, watching videos and DVDs, alittle programing mostly JAVA for school. I'd really appreciate recomendations for software that the comunity likes.
Thanks,
DINK
