Music player

I have an iPod that I use on my WinXP machine and therefore I also came to use iTunes to listen to my music. What do most of you recomend using on Linux to listen to music? Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

If you want to use your iPod with it I recommend Rhythmbox if you use GNOME or Amarok if you use KDE

I found Rhythmbox and was trying to use it but found that it cannot play MP3 files as that is not included with the RH version. I tried to follow the instructions on thier site to download what I needed to listen to MP3 files but was not having much luck. It was getting late and I was dead tired so that is my excuse

I'll try again later. So, the iPod will actually synce with Linux? WOW!

Yes, iPods can sync directly with linux.
I agree about Amaork, I love it.
I recommend to get mp3 playablility: http://packman.iu-bremen.de/ they have fedora and SuSE and Dedian, and RedHAt repositories to get mp3 and all kinds of video going.

I haven't used my iPod with Rhythmbox as I don't have it installed anymore but last time I used it they were working on the iPod support. That was ages ago now, I'm presuming it's completed by now or at least working. I use gtkpod to sync my iPod, thats another good app but it doesn't play music internally so I didn't suggest it.

redshirt,

I went to the link that you posted but I was a bit overwhelmed lol

I'm not really sure what of those I would need to enable mp3 playing in Rhythmbox (on Suse 10)

I also installed gstreamer-plugins via YaST but that did not seem to do anything for Rhythmbox. Any ideas? Thanks.
