music cd doesn't play in cd player

i made a cd using cdrecord and mkisofs but when i try to play it in the cd player, i can't hear anything. i converted some of my mp3's into wav's using:

mpg321 -w filename.wav filename.mp3

and then used mkisofs to make the iso image of all the wav's.

then i just used cdrecord to burn the image. but somehow, that doesn't give me any sound! why?

What are you using, XMMS, KsCD, etc....??
make sure that the prog you use is accessing /dev/cdrom

also open up KDE control center and look for "file associations"
make sure that.....wav, mp3, ogg, etc....is accessing your prefered
media player........XMMS, KsCD, etc.........

If you don't have an analogue audio cable from your CD drive to your sound card, you will need to use Digital Audio Extraction.

You can download a plugin for XMMS called cd-read or cd-audio (I think), that enables you to do this. It may actually be installed already, just check preferences / Input-Plugins in XMMS.

that brings up another interesting problem..

i'm not able to read off of my cdrom drive either. I was trying my burned cd in a real cd player but it couldn't play it. I could see the time of the track counting but no sound came out.

i check fstab and i am mounting /dev/cdrom as /mnt/cdrom but that doesn't seem to pick it up. do i need to pass some kernel boot parameters like hdg=/dev/cdrom (something like that)?
