multiple x servers??

hola all,

is there a way to start a second x server? when you cycle through the different terminals tty1-6 (ctrl+alt+ f1-f6), and then get to tty7, tty7 is an X server. can i make tty8 another x server? i would like to be able to run it under another user, or say a different window manager (Gnome on one, KDE on the other). is this possible? thanks.

just use something like

startx -- :1

everything after the -- for scripts like startx is passed through to the server, and here it gives a specific server number to start up, i.e. not the default, :0. so this will typically start under F8, as opposed to F7
