Multiple panels in Fluxbox?

Is there a way to have more than one panel in Fluxbox? (Not counting the slit, the slit is not a panel and can't hold panel things).

I've Googled, and found some feature requests for this dated 2009-2011, but not found anything to say whether this was ever implemented. Looking at the Fluxbox configs, there is no obvious way to do it, but there are a lot of things Fluxbox can do that aren't obvious...

So is this possible, or does Fluxbox still only allow one panel?

I could find nothing on the Fluxbox wiki to indicate that this is possible.

The default toolbar (Fluxbox's term for the panel) is just called toolbar, not, for example, toolbar0, which leads me to think that there is not provision for, say, a "toolbar1."

You could use other panels, such as xfce4-panel, which allows more than one.

You could also try creating second toolbar in .fluxbox/init and see what happens.

Just be sure to back up your current configuration first.

what panels does open box use? maybe one of them would work but you still got to work out how to put what app where, on which panel. They may end up on both or get confused.

Have fun experimenting.

I believe OpenBox doesn't have a panel, but Tint2 is a popular choice.

I use Tint2, Plank, Lxpanel and Xfpanel with Openbox...maybe he should try Plank, since it acts more as a launcher. It's been awhile since I tried Fluxbox but I thought I could use the default and something like tint2 or plank.

I am using Fluxbox at the moment and I am happy with one tool bar and gkrellm with its plugins and added themes. I've never thought of having two tool bars in Fluxbox.

The only thing I can think of that'd cause a conflict is that they are all designed to hold the applications within it so you can minimize and maximize the app by clicking on them in the tool bar.

as far as getting any of the add on tool bars out there to "work" that is to start and show up in fluxbox that part should not be hard at all.

How to get fluxbox to know where to put whatever app one started up on which ever tool bar the user wants them to go to. Some kind of communication link between all of them needs to be established.

looking into a launcher bar called wbar

http://lxlinux.com/wbar.html

https://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.2/desktop/wbar/

that is a slack build file that will give you access to all of what you need to install if you decided to. I am going to give it a go just to see what it looks like and how it interacts within Fluxbox with all of the other stuff I have in here already.

note from slackbuild on wbar

the image shows what that looks like with wbar launcher that a task bar can be added to it in its config file to show open applications. per its web page instructions on how to's.

Been there. Done that in Fluxbox. So it is doable. I can't explain how I did it long long ago.

I know in ~/.fluxbox/startup

I used

Code:
wbar &
Code:
lxpanel &
Code:
tint2 &
to get them started when fluxbox was starting up. After installing them first. Of course.

For combination panels

Code:
tint2 && wbar && lxpanel &
