Multimedia

Ive used Linux for about 9 mounts now, an old windows user :-), and i find linux more versitile than Windown in every way exept two, games and multimedia, i like to use my debian 4.0 pc with X-windows as a desktop pc but the multimedia works to poorly, like encrypted dvd movies that does not work very well, i have added the right packages, i think, and audio cds that works in one programm and not another.

You might find it easier to use a distribution oriented towards desktop use (Fedora, Ubuntu, etc.). I have no problem playing any media format at all, and my laptop is over 6 years old. As far as games are concerned, I suggest you concentrate on native Linux games.

I tried Amarok and wasn't to impressed, when i tried to play an ordinary Audi/music cd and got the following error message "No suitable demux plugin. This often means that the file format is not supported." I never got an error message in any other program that plays cd:s.
