Multi-volume file archives

I download large files which are split into lots of separate little files with extensions 001, 002 etc.

Does anybody know if there is a file de-compressor which will handle these type of files for Linux?

At present I use WinRAR to transform these files into the real files.

All I can find is this page: http://www.cknow.com/ckinfo/def_c/co...nformats.shtml

and the 001 files under 'ARJ Compressed Archive' with a unix de-compressor called unarj.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks in advance

Most 001 files are infact actually RAR files renamed. In that case, any RAR decompressor will do, such as the freeware unrar 3.36.

Although, sometimes they are split using another freeware utility called HJSplit. Get it here: http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#linux
