Multi sounds through ALSA
How come I can't play games and listen to mp3's at the same time? To see if this was just the game's fault, I tried to play a movie after I started an mp3 and mplayer said that the sound device is busy. How can I enable ALSA to play multiple sounds at once? I used to be able to do it but not on this computer. This computer uses the the snd-intel8x0 module in ALSA.

It might have something do with how many channels your sound card has. Maybe the other computer you were on the sound card had more

The last computer was my desktop which I left at home because I got tired of lugging it to school every year so I bought a cool toshiba laptop. My desktop had a SB Live Platinum which used the emu10k chip. On this card, I didn't leave windows on the laptop long enough to see if my card had multichannel support but since it's a brand spankin' new piece of hardware, I can pretty much be sure that it does support multi channels. I just thought that there was an option in ALSA that could fix that.
