msn with gaim
How do i get my msn too work with gaim??? i don't get it
|
easy.....what version you have ? the latest version 0.64.. its a lot easier and user friendly
|
on the older versions, create a acct on gaim and load the msn plugin ;)
|
yup, easy as pie, just make sure the libamsn plugin is loaded and add the account.
there are instructions for installation on my guide, not sure what distro you are using though since you didn't say. btw, I see you are from Ontario like me, where abouts in ONT? |
I live in barrie ontario I just got into linux cuz my dad wanted my brothers and I too learn it so we could help him with his servers so im just trying everything and switching over everything from windows so far I like linux better then windows and i have had my system running for about a week now and haven't had too reboot
I got the version that came with redhat 9 i think 0.59 |
And I aslo got the RPM of the .64 version and when i tried installing it an error came up saying it needed libgtkspell.so.0
where can i download this??? |
that's cool, you are not that far from me actually, I am in the Oshawa, Whitby area
and for upgrading your gaim, it is very easy. just install gtkspell first from here: http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/se...mit=Search+... get the second one from the top (the one that has i386 in it) you can install that using rpm -ivh then you can upgrade your gaim version by doing this: rpm -Uvh gaim(press tab to complete) see my guide for more details It's nice to see someone close to home using linux, and even better, RH, feel free to icq me if you want. |
Ok i just downloaded gtkspell the i 386 one but when i opened it up the installastion screen that pops up when opening an rpm like disappeared
|
try installing it in the terminal
open the terminal cd to the directory where you saved it then get root privs su password then: rpm -ivh gtkspell(press tab to autocomplete) then do the same for gaim, except use rpm -Uvh get used to doing things in the terminal a bit - at least for installing files, it is much better imho |
K thanks alot i will try that
