MSN wine and email

I was just wondering if it is possible to run msn messenger 8.0 under wine?? 'Cause i really hate microsoft, but i love msn8! (weep for me....) MSN 8 avatars! You have no idea how cool i think that is. And please don't tell me to get my friends to switch. I have like 30 friends who all use msn EXCLUSIVELY (microsoft really dominates here in Oshawa)

Also is there a mail program for linux which can recieve http mail?? It would be so convenient to be able to recieve my hotmail without going onto the website!

You could also try out kmess and kopete I even like kmess much more then the MSN6 from Microsoft Both programs have support for the new SSL-login support, so Microsoft can't block them yet.

Imho Kopete is a bit messy, but it seams to support a lot of other MSN6 features already, and also supports other protocols (just like Trillian in the Windows world)

But seriously, if you even have to switch: try jabber, because it's free, very promising, open source, and well supported by a lot of clients. If you need a client to convince the 'breezer sl***' (how we call them in The Netherlands .. hehe), I can recommend you rhymbox, it's a jabber client too.

No problem Man just follow the instructions and you'll be reading your hotmail email in Thunderbird just like I do (BTW Thunderbird is a great mail program)

Well, if you want to retrieve mail from MSN, try Gotmail. It's decent, but you need procmail and stuff to work it. After that, just stick it into cron and it'll pipe the email into your local mail. Collect it with Sylpheed! ^_^
