Since two months my computer freezes unrecoverably. First times I thought it was an hardware problem because it freezes randomly. After testing all the peripherals I believe there's a software trouble. It seems to be an msn related problem. When I don't use any msn client (gaim, kopete, tmsnc, pebrot) pc is stable like a rock. The only thing it's common to all clients seems to be openssl, but no one has reported that problem. I use Slackware Current and... there's nothing else which could be related to the freezes!!!
Has anyone had the same problem? Any ideas?
It seems strange to me, but if you feel its MSN, than try using aMSN which is speciafically for the task, if it too does the same, try chanign your Desktop application like if you are using KDE use Gnome and test if its freeze there or not.
There might be system log messages, i.e., in /var/log/messages...
Also, did you try starting these programs from the command line - as error and other messages are outputted to the terminal/console then.
Please post back.
