MSN Client

I am using SuSe9.1 with KDE 3.2.1

I tried using Kopete 0.9.2 and gaim, both of them has a bug that makes it log out if anyone with a long nickname signs in, also they take hell of time to deliver a message

I also tried SIM, but it is very very bad from the level of the GUI and crashes alot, it also doesnt support sending and recieveing files from MSN Messenger (Windows)

So anyone has any suggestions of an MSN client that he used and yet found it to be a good choice ?

I think you may be right. But (and I have found an obscure clause here) he didn't say which version he tried! It may be that a more recent version does not have this bug.

So ner-ner-ne-ner-ner :D

What I would do in your case is try getting some newer versions. I use GAIM in Gnome and Kopete in KDE and I don't usually get any errors... I'm using GAIM 1.1.1. and Kopete (4:3.3.2-1) (THIS IS THE DEBIAN RELEASE, NOT SURE ABOUT THE VERSION!).

As long as I'm not a SuSE user, I can't tell you surely, but you should use YaST to upgrade your software.

Hugs!

Looked perfect to me :) Certainly better than my Portugese :D
You speak English a lot better than some natives I've met!

Actually I have downloaded the latest version of Kopete but still I get the same errors

the problem I guess is with the MSN plugin in the Kopete as I have ICQ and Jabber accounts on Kopete and they dont do any problems

I installed aMSN but i wont to install new encodings in it as I am using arabic

but I dont know from where to do that !!

megaspaz 03-08-2005 09:41 AM

sorry. didn't realize you wanted an arabic translation. i don't think amsn has arabic support.

you could look here on the right, as maybe they classify arabic as something else, but ...

hi there,

reading that now, i think that the previous problems with gaim and kopete can be connected to the enconding definition.
you wrote that the system hangs with long nicknames and sending messages, probably there is something to do with the arabic option.
this is just a theory. maybe a small research about enconding definitions and installation is required.
