MS doc files in Open Office 1.0

HI

I am trying to convert ms word 97 .doc files in open office writer 1.0.1

It just terminates after files is displayed in the db .

Tried different ways and wasted much time to do this . check ooo site but had no luck on this problem

copied to desktop and kept getting i/o error ,skipped error and -now it converts some files and not others ..help please ..

Not sure whether this applies to your
problem or not, but OO can't handle
files with passwords...

Upgrade to the newest OpenOffice.
There are always significant upgrades in how it handles MS office files.
