MS blocks 3rd party MSN Clients.

Well, now MS blocks 3rd party MSN Clients like GAIM. What can i do to connect? Is there anyone who has been successful using Wine and MSN Messenger?

Are they really doing it? I have yet to see it. I connected with gaim sometime this morning, and am still on!

I also connected early today, but now I get this error:

user@mail has been disconnected
Protocol version not supported

:(

i guess i'd better not log off, then!

nrunge 10-15-2003 08:17 PM

I use asmn and I connected fine a few hours ago.

Im locked out with Gaim, but tried AMSN and that works. However, IMO AMSN isnt as good as Gaim, so I hope the Gaim team sort it out....

Edit: Got latest 0.71 working now... Sweeeet!

you need a third party client that supports MSNP9, which I believe the newest version of GAIM does. as a few people have already attested to.

I'm using gaim .70 and it stills works perfectly right:D

poloktim 10-16-2003 03:19 AM

aMSN v.0.83 supports MSNP9 perfectly.

nickwu2000 10-16-2003 08:23 AM

using slackware 9.1:
aMSN v0.83 works great
gaim v0.70 doesnt work : "protocol version not supported"

Kopete 0.7.2, and kmess 1.3.0 are able to connect to MSN.

To toti: I got that same message using gaim 0.71. I installed amsn 0.83 and works fine.
