mplayerplugin buffers to 99% then nothing happens

Hi there

I've installed the mplayerplugin version 2.70 but when i want to play some embedded movie it starts buffering until 99% and then just stops.

No matter what format.

Downloading the same file and then playing it does the trick whoever i just want to watch them in my mozilla 1.6 browser.

Website says it is probably something with your codecs but it cannot be that since they play without problems in gmplayer wich uses the same codecs.

Anybody has a clue.

Thnx a bunch Maarten.

The only way to answer your problem is you to give us more information. We can not simulate your problem unless we have the steps you did that got you the problem. Also a link will help to put ourselves in your shoes.

Sorry for not providing enough info.

From the webpage of http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/

I've downloaded and installed the Mplayer plugin version 2.70
The plugin is installed good because i can see it in the about plugin menu In Mozilla 1.60
On the webpage mentioned above there is a link testing.

it gives you a link to a movie wich you can download via
wget http://fredrik.hubbe.net/plugger/test.mov
and play
mplayer test.mov
I tested with MPlayer 1.0pre5-3.3.4 and it works fine.

under that there is a daredevil trailer movie embedded in some webpage
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/da...er_medium.html

The page opens the plugin buffers up to 99% and then stops.

I've tested all possible formats avi wmv mpg embedded in different webpages
but the the same happens all the time.

thanx for wanting to look into it.

Is mplayer in your path? Most of the time that is the problem. If you have gmplayer installed, but not mplayer then the plugin will not work. Other problems can be an invalid video output mode specified.

Also, you could try turning on debugging of mplayerplug-in. Perhaps you should take this question to the mplayerplug-in developers list.

You can not compile gmplayer seperately because it uses mplayer. gmplayer is the frontend for mplayer.

I use Opera for normal browsing. Opera is a little more flexible when dealing with videos and audio. All I did is compiled mplayer and it just works in Opera. All you should need is plugger. It does not work well with movie trailers at Apple's site because they have their own way of starting up the movie which mplayer does not support. Though sometimes Opera gets carried away and displays the video in the whole browser window.

I tested opening the file with mplayer by just picking open file with mplayer and it works. You can add a few entries in Helper Applications in the preferences window. Using the plugin is worthless if you do not mind adding a few entries.

BTW, I am using Mozilla 1.7. You should upgrade because there is some problems with Mozilla 1.6.

It seemed like i had more mplayers installed on my system.
Some of wich didnt support the proper video output

Works fine except for quicktime movies being without sound

The lack of sound in mplayer on quicktime files is usually caused by mplayer not having faad support compiled in. Or it is missing a codec.

The codecs where missing indeed

Do you happen to know a way how i can prioritize the plugin used for different media.
ie. i would like it if mp3 files would be streamed in an external mp3 player like xmms.
