Mplayer wouldn't play fullscren
Hi,
I've installed 32-bit Fedora Core 2 on my AMD64. The chipset is VIA and the monitor is SyncMaster 793S. Mplayer wouldn't play fullscreen. When I press `f' for fullscreen, it goes fullscreen but plays the movie in the orginal size. Any idea what's going on?

Sounds like you're using a video output driver that doesn't support scaling, like the x11 driver. Try using the xv or gl2 (gl2 is very CPU intensive but pretty) video drivers instead, they support scaling.

if you do need to use x11 (which cpu wise isn't desirable) add the -zoom option to your command line.

Tried using gl2 - but that hangs my system
When I reboot to windows and use mplayer to play the same files, everything works fine. Am I missing some drivers?

Onboard VIA on MSI Motherboard. FC2 detects it as "VESA generic"

ouch. well you don't want vesa output, that's for a console, not x. you should still have -vo x11 access.

Even mplayer -vo x11 plays movies in a window - the original size. No fullscreen

If you have more details on the onboard graphics, that'd be nice (as they might work with the "trident" drivers)
Failing that, buy a cheap nVidia card for 20$ off ebay and have far more fun
