Mplayer won't load

I installed Mplayer so I can view trailers over the Web. However, It won't run anything. I checked my firewall and it's clear. Galeon has no problems. Mplayer just won't download and run trailers. I checked other sites and nothing.

What's up with it?

just download the trailers and then run them with mplayer

or mplayer might accept web addresses directly by simply typing mplayer

*edit: if you mean that you want embedded viewing in the webpage, i know gxine has a plugin (using the xine video base), but i'm not sure if mplayer has that ability
