why mplayer will not use decent video output ?

Compiling mplayer-1.0pre4 on Mandrake 9.2 with TNT2 pro m64. All codecs & Nvidia latest driver installed.

- At the end of mplayer compilation (which runs fines), i do not see any of the recommanded video output : sdl & xv.

Do you have those video output ?

I have only those :
Quote:
winvidix bl zr zr2 dxr3 dxr2 directx gif89a fbdev svga caca aa ggi xmga mga xvmc directfb tdfx_vid tdfxfb 3dfx quartz
Any advice for this ?

Thanks,
kozaki

i gave it a second try, even if i did not change my configuration (except fax & ghoscript stuff)
Well, now the sdl & xv video output are OK

compilation went fine, thanks to trustonme.net howto (that's in Fr).

Everything's fine, even if i have no idea why it worked only on second try

In the future, DON'T compile your own thing. Instead, go to the Mandrake Control Center and add software applications from there using the Mandrake CD's. Or, use URPMI.

Arrow

You do as u want Micro420.
urpmi is something i will use for some apps or libs,
but i will always compile big applications with tons of options or security issues such as multimedia player, webserver, etc.

no matter how many issues I'll have to cope with this choice ; urpmi or apt-get is *not* the ultimate solution for everybody's needs.
