mplayer skins

I have just installed mplayer ... it works fine , but how do i get the skins to work , i extracted them to the skins directory , but mplayer doesnt use it ... , is there something i must do ?

When you open mplayer-gui, it loads with the default skin. You simply right click on the mplayer window and select "skin browser". All the loaded skins should be there. Select one and click OK and the mplayer skin is changed. It will keep the new skin the next time you open it as well.

thats the problem , it opens up ... in just a normal window , it has no option or anything ... just a window i cant even stop or pause the movie

try gmplayer which also comes with the default install (I think) and
if you don't get the control panel, right click the window and it will
be one of those options.

I was under under the impression you had to do a ./configure-gui command when compiling mplayer, and then used gmplayer.

I installed the gui and skins from rpm binaries so I didn't go through the compilation. RPMs for Mandrake can be downloaded from http://plf.zarb.org/. Red Hat RPMs cab be found at ftp://linux.inrialpes.fr/linux/false...thann/mplayer.

I run Mandrake, so I can attest to how well the falsehope RPMs work. Hope the RPMs work.
