Mplayer problems

I use limewire and i downloaded a video on it. I tried to play it and i see the video, but the audio is all static. I cam play music in limewires intergrated player, but it doesnt have one for video. would this problem be mplayer configuration or alsa?

Which program are you using at this point?

Are you saying the sound is fine under Limewire but not Mplayer?

srry i wasnt clear, the static is when i open the vid in mplayer. yea the sound is great in limewire but not mplayer. is there a standalone media player (eg. Windows Media Player, Winamp) for Linux with a good GUI?

Did you configure and install mplayer youreelf or is it from the rpm?

The reason I ask is that I had the same problem and solved it by installing libdts and then compling mplayer with --enable libdts in the configure options.

BTW xine is also a good vid player for linux

ok then, maybe try changing the audio driver used under the mplyaer preferences. Or you could try xine if nothing works. the gui is not great, but it's a very good video player.
