mplayer problems?

ok I have no idear why it wont work,?
after having problems installing GTK+, it wouldn't find any of my updated programs so I set the prefix= to overwrite the old versions. and now MPlayer wont install? this is what I get.

'config.h' and 'config.mak' contain your configuration options.
Note: If you alter theses files (for instance CFLAGS) MPlayer may no longer
compile *** DO NOT REPORT BUGS if you tweak these files ***

'make' will now compile MPlayer and 'make install' will install it.
Note: On non-Linux systems you might need to use 'gmake' instead of 'make'.

Please check mtrr settings at /proc/mtrr (see DOCS/HTML/en/video.html#mtrr)

Check configure.log if you wonder why an autodetection failed (check whether
the development headers/packages are installed).

If you suspect a bug, please read DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html.

What distribution are you using? There is probably an easier way to install myplayer then compiling it.

I think mplayer is in the default yum repository. I could be wrong though but just try:

yum install mplayer

yum is a package manager. One thing that looks wrong is your --with-gtk-config and --with-glib-config parameters to configure. what these switches are looking for it the path to the scripts so for example if you have glib-1.2.10 and gtk-1.2.10 installed in the prefix /usr, glib-config and gtk-config would reside in /usr/bin. normally, you don't need to tell configure where these two are as long as they are in your PATH. (to verify they are in your PATH, just type glib-config and gtk-config in a terminal and make sure it doesn't fail with "command not found").

well it does say that both commands are not found. if I dont put those lines in it wont configure full stop, it just says it cant find them? and the defaul directry mplayer looks in is /opt/bin

check your system and see if you have either one installed. It's probable that you have the libraries installed just not the development files (the config scripts are installed with the devel packages)

rpm -qa | grep glib
rpm -qa | grep gtk

the above two commands should do for finding out what you have. If you have the library rpm's ( something like gtk+-1.2.10-i486-rpm and glib-1.2.10-i486-rpm) all you will need down below are the -devel rpm's and everything should work ok

you could leave them out, but you will not be able to build the gui. to build the gui, you will need:

gtk+-1.2.10 rpm
gtk+-1.2.10-devel rpm
glib-1.2.10 rpm
glib-1.2.10-devel rpm

you should have no problem finding these on your install cd's. make sure you have the devel rpm's or this will not work.

alright, you have glib-1.2.x and gtk-1.2.x rpm's on your system (but you do not have the -devel rpm's which you will need)

But to clarify, did you install glib-1.2 and gtk-1.2 from source?

oh ok. 2.6.x and 1.2.x are not the same thing. Pretty much every distro provides both gtk and glib 2.x and 1.x. What mplayer wants is gtk and glib 1.2.x and does not care about or could not use 2.6.0.

In short, to build mplayer with a gui you will need glib-1.2.10 and gtk-1.2.10 (again, it cannot use 2.x libraries) and the -devel packages of those two.

Subtitle size

Hi guys, I know this is not exactly a problem, but how can I increase the size of the DivX subtitles in MPlayer? I am using the GUI and there seems to be no option in the menu.
I tried the man pages, googled for it, but no good. Is it some keyboard shortcut maybe?
Thanks in advance
