MPlayer: Problem using multiple Monitors

Hi,

maybe there is someone over here to help me with the following problem. At home I have a (larger) monitor attached to my notebook. I use the monitors as clones not as individual desktops. By the way I am using Fedora Core 2 Test 3.

I installed MPlayer some days ago and it works quiet good, except from the following issue: when using "xv" as output device the MPlayer window is shown on each monitor but the content is only drawn to the "built in" notebook-display. I tried to use "x11" as output device and was very happy to see the video being cloned, too. Unfortunately the "fullscreen mode" does not work this way. When switching to full screen the video does not scale up (while everything around turns black).

I tried some other output devices like "gl" and "gl2" but performance is very poor with them, since I have no specific graphic drivers insalled (its a ATI 9000 mobility).

Any hints are very apreciated, cause I would love to see some of my movies and, yes, fullscreen would be nice, too.

Thanks alot,
Merlin

Not sure what could be causing your problem, however I used to have multiple monitors set up using a nVidia card, but I had each monitor setup as its own destkop, I could watch a movie and play a game @ the same time, you could try that if you wish, here's a link to a linuxquestions.org discussion on it

otherwise I'm not sure, could just be an mplayer thing, you could try Xine, I installed Xine and I enjoy it more than Mplayer.

Good Luck

Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for your suggestions. I will have a look at xine, too. I had much trouble using the monitors as individual desktops (maybe because of different resolutions).

All other hints are still apreciated
