MPlayer problem.
"Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device"
That is the error I get when I try to play a DVD while using the GUI for MPlayer.
My distribution is Ubuntu, by the way. And I'm using an ATi Radeon x700, with ATi's drivers.

Edit /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf and set:
vo=xv
You can also set the video in the GUI settings, but that will only apply to the GUI, not the command-line as well.

Same place. If it doesn't exist, create it.
