MPlayer playing mov: Audio no sound
 

Ok, installed MPlayer according to beyond.linuxfromscratch. Now I go to play the mov movies from theanimatrix.com and the video plays just fine but mplayer reports
'Audio: no sound'
what is going on here? Why won't it detect that there is audio and play it?
I tried the same video under Xine and it play audio but the audio is 5 seconds fast.

I tested it under windows and the file plays fine so there's no corruption of the file...
what is going on?!

ok... update... got Xine to play one of the animatrix movies... the latest one. it plays it just fine but still plays the others with audio 5 seconds fast.

so I figured I'd try mplayer on the one xine would play. When I try to play the file with mplayer it locks up my WM (enlightenment) ... I have to eventually CTRL+ALT+BKSPC to kill X and restart it.

I know there are some mplayer advocates (its like VI vs Emacs between Xine and MPlayer it seems) out there... please help. I wish I could pick one player and go with it but I've noticed over the last two years that there are some files that one always plays better than the other... :(
