mplayer - no gui when gmplayer
When I run gmplayer (and possibly xmms as well) I don't get any gui while the program itself is working. I'm using it on Icewm but I tried Xfce as well as quick test and it didn't show there either. If I run from a terminal and CTRL-c I get the normal error that mplayer has been interrupted and ps -aux shows it's active and my cpu usage as well. I reinstalled and it still gives the same problem. I don't get any errors neither when I start nor when I configure and install. From searching around and the article that made me want to try icewm it should be working but why don't I see anything then?

More info:
In Gnome I have the same problem. |
When you installed Mplayer, did you also get the mplayer-gui file?
|
Yep everything was ok and installed properly. It recognized the gui file as well. But right now I've wiped my complete installation cause I had more errors and things I configured wrong. I'll try in gnome once it is installed now cause I thought gnome looked really good compared to the version I had before
edit: I found one site that had the same problem but it had no solution. Well let's hope it works now |
while compiling mplayer
u ned to do this #./configure --enable-gui --datadir=/usr/local this will enable gui and make a dir for skins and fonts at /usr/local,where u can put the sknis and fonts see if it works regards gaurav |
I had it that way. I've compiled mplayer like over 10 times in the last few weeks so I know how to set it up properly. Well I've reinstalled debian and xmms which didn't work either works so I think mplayer will work as well as both wouldn't show up.
