Unhappy mplayer looks awful on my 1200x800 widescreen resolution on slackware 10.2

It looks awful maaaaaan.

My graphics are working fine just fine.

I own a dell Inspiron 710m. I had to download the 855 patch resolution thingy to make it work. and well, no problem there, it does work.

i did ./configure -help on mplayer and well, if it isn't there... does it require a clever hack?

please help guys, if we can find an answer to this... we could save a linux user from using windows to watch pr0n.

To me it seems like MPlayer might be using the wrong video device when it runs. First I want to apologize, I'm not on a linux machine right now so I can't check the commands I'm going to suggest, so I'm going to go from memory. I would first recommend starting MPlayer in a terminal window to see if it outputs any errors. Second try running the command:

Code:
mplayer -vo help
This should yield a list of possible output drivers. Try a few of those. If you find something that works well for you, it can be stored in the configuration file located in: ~/.mplayer

If this doesn't work try checking the documentation: MPlayer Manual
