Mplayer Looking Blue
Hello all, I have just installed Mplayer. This is not a concern whatsoever. Everything goes well. I have my codecs already installed before configuration and my fonts as well. mplayer runs great from command line, but when I run "gmplayer" I get my default skin but it has a dark blue tint all over it with the command that "New_Face failed maybe to fault is wrong". I have installed this prgram twice before never with such concern. Can somebody lead me in the right direction. thanks again.

Shot in the dark...
I'm nowhere near an expert on Mplayer, but I would reccommend trying to run it as a different user. That way you could determine whether the problem is global or just in your home directory/user config files.
Good luck!

Yesterday I installed Mplayer and it appears in blue too, mhhh, it seems to be that it comes in blue by default. Have you tryed to add more skins? http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html

Perhaps you're using the wrong video settings. I'm on my Windoze partition at the moment (owing to some connection problems under Linux), so I could be wrong, but I think if you type "mplayer -vi ?" it'll vive you a list of possible video modes. (Does it work with gmplayer too?) If you've got 3D acceleration working, try using one of the openGL modes; otherwise play around with them and see what works best.
Good luck!

On the command line when you start mplayer, do something like "mplayer -vi <video mode> <file to play>". Look in the man pages for the details. (I'd post the relevant parts but my internet connection is being fickle under Linux so I'm booted into Windoze.)

I have this same problem.. here is what I learned from the people at Gentoo (my distrib)
1. I have an AMD64 system (strike 1)
2. I have xorg-x11 version 6.8.0 (strike 2)
3. I installed MPlayer (strike 3)
3 strikes! = blue everything! .. the answer is to downgrade to xorg-x11 6.7.0.. they say that this will solve the problem, but I have a lot of crashes on that version, so blue skins it is for me
Hope this helps
