mplayer + ivtv + raw video input = green and garbled?

hi there everyone,

i'm trying to use my hauppage pvr 150 (mce) with ivtv (0.10.2, kernel 2.6.20 w/ gentoo patches) and use the raw video and audio inputs, to get better picture quality and no lag. after tuning to a channel, i've tried the command:

mplayer -audiofile /dev/video24 -audio-demuxer 20 -rawvideo format=hm12:pal -demuxer 26 /dev/video32 -nocache

but all i get is this weird green garbled screen (albeit with a picture that you can sort of make out - nowhere near watchable though) but with perfect sound. "mplayer /dev/video0" works great, but the picture tends to skip about a bit and it's not the best quality. has anyone else had this problem? is it more likely to be a problem with mplayer or with ivtv/my card?

thanks in advance!
