I'm not running a duel boot here. I run WinXP on my notebook computer, but this is my desktop. I think I'll pick up a new DVD and at the same time add a few sticks of RAM and a new 20 gig hard drive.

At the same time it might be a software problem because a few months ago I ran mplayer with Mandrake 8 or 9 and it worked better. I'm using RH8 at this time. I'm not too worried about it though because simple .avi files work fine, it's just the DVD that is choppy, and I can watch DVD's on my Television.

Ok, I'm having some trouble with mplayer... I try to get it to play DVD's and it says "Can't find VMG info" I've tried sim linking /dev/cdrom to /dev/dvd and that didn't work... I don't know what VMG info is.......
I'm running it from KDE 3.0 on SuSE 8.1 pro, any help is welcome

Can you post up the entire output error message including the command you used to play the video, something like this:
bash-2.05a$ mplayer -vo xv -dvd 1
