Mplayer : grab (or at least display) remaining time in track?
 

This feature/function seems way too fundamental to be left out, and yet, za gooogles do nussingk. (10 pts. if you can name that allusion). Any way to get this info on demand? The trick is, I don't want to use the default, ongoing display of track position though, for reasons that are kind of long and boring. If possible, I'd like to just get the time remaining (or even just current position in seconds and total seconds, and I can do the math) when I ask for it, not all the time. OSD function, maybe?

Isn't "O" (as in Oven, not zero) the shortcut for that? Either that or I've totally misunderstood your question :)

Capital "O" isn't (apparently) bound to a function. Lower case simply toggles the OSD on and off.

For me, pressing lowercase o works. Toggling between: OSD on/off, elapsed time and elapsed/remaining time.
